What’s the PS3 hotness?

I’ve noticed a ton of screenshots coming out of Tokyo Game Show, but I haven’t seen anything that’s really blown me away. Now that there are rumors of a PS3 price drop (confirmed in Japan), this might even be a machine someone could actually buy (next year, after they overcome supply problems).

So what’s the big game? Where’s the drool-worthy gameplay video? What’s everyone talking about for the PS3?

Personal favs so far: Final Fantasy still looks like Final Fantasy, and Lair looks like some real kid-geek-dream fun.

I’ll be damned, I think there’s an actual screenshot in that bunch:

    Aliased edges on models? Check.
    Frame-buffer artifacts on bridge? Check.
Preliminary HUD that no marketing person would allow into the world unless it were actually in the game? Check.

I suppose the aliasing could still be Photoshop artifacts, though… hm…

They claim Lair is only about a third done, so by the time it comes out it’ll be a 2nd-gen PS3 title, and that should all be fixed up. The first-gen PS3 titles I’ve seen so far look like upresed PS2 stuff.

I wasn’t calling out those imperfections in a derogatory manner — rather, I was simply suggesting that any such imperfections my indeed indicate an actual in-game screenshot. (I can’t say the same of the Final Fantasy shots.)

BTW: Yay me for breaking the page. That’s one long URL!
