Best Online News Reader?

I haven’t seen good, up-to-date reviews. Is Bloglines the way to go? Google? NewsGator? (I’m a bit wary of anything that has the word “gator” in its name.)

Now that I seem to be working from a different computer every week, SharpReader isn’t cutting it. What do you use, and are you happy with it?

You should definitely try one of the webapp ones. It’s way more convenient. I use bloglines (only because I have been since before google reader came around and I don’t care enough to switch), I think John prefers google reader, as evidenced by readermini.com. Google reader has a much nicer interface. Bloglines and google reader will import and export OPML files, and I imagine that whatever tool you’re using now will also, so it should only take you about 5 minutes to try them out and see which one you like better.

Yeah, I’m a huge fan of Google Reader.

My favorite features? Creating your own link blog of shared items is awesome. I use the star button to mark items I want to return to at some point. The app is very responsive for being online. I haven’t used labels much, but I will soon when I integrate them into readermini.

The j/k shortcuts for moving forward and backward through your feeds is addictive and helps you plow through your reading list.

The Reader team regularly updates the app with new features, keeping the experience fresh. Google Reader Trends is nice.

Hmm, Google Reader is looking better than I remember it. And all those keyboard shortcuts– someone’s a vim user! Sweet. I’m giving it a go now, though I’m a bit too sleepy to learn it all just yet.

Is it possible to move a feed list from Bloglines to Google Reader? I’m curious to try Google out, but I’m also very, very lazy.

Craig says they’ll both import and export OPML, so I’d guess yes. Haven’t verified.
