diary of an indie game developer

Where’s Dan Hsu?

Remember with Dan Hsu was calling game journalists on the gifts and junkets they received from publishers? Remember when he actually asked Peter Moore a few tough questions?

That was back in 2005. How come I haven’t heard anything like that since then? Have I missed the news? Are tough questions now so unremarkable as to not create a stir? Did the attempt at making game journalism respectable just not pan out?

One Response to “Where’s Dan Hsu?”

  1. Geoff Says:

I have no idea what happened to Dan Hsu in particular, but yeah I think this just sort of died down after a minor blip. I don’t think I really go to the mainstream game publications at all anymore… or at best, I end up on fileplanet to download some patch or preview movie, after being directed there from some other site (generally speaking, penny-arcade, maybe blue’s news or evil avatar… your blog… game rankings…)

The sad thing is, of course, that these sites don’t get to ask tough questions either - or at best, they get to pose the question without having too much hope of an actual answer.
