N+ on XBLA

I believe I’ve posted about N here before (but you just try searching for N). N+ is now available on XBLA. It’s an awesomely minimal action platformer, and probably plays a lot better with a controller than a keyboard. (It’s also, to be honest, a bit sadistic.)

What will happen to games like this in a 35% royalty world? N was already available on the PC, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a PS3 version. So, perhaps 35% wouldn’t have changed anything. Or perhaps it would have come out through the XNA community.

Bitchy Erik says: I guess I’m wondering why the world needs another platformer.

Not-Bitchy Erik says: There is no Not-Bitchy Erik today. Please try again later.

Seriously. The world needs another platformer about as much as it needs another third-person action game.

You can judge for yourself if it’s different enough to warrant existence here, free:

Ok, first, another platformer? Why not? At least it’s not gone all 3d-ridiculous like so many others have. (no offense to the most excellent game Psychonauts)

However, the video clip made me think Lode Runner with pseudo-modern controls. I like that.

Of course, some of this may have come from too many hours of playing South Pacific Quest as a lad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f26UYa3IMJg)

I’m glad I’m not the only one that looks a N and N+ and thinks back to far too many hours spent drilling pits and walking over bad guys, all for the piles and piles of gold…
